Planet Fresh is in the old Santa Cruz Hotel downtown and has a cool atmosphere with the big windows and high ceilings from the Victorian era. I am not sure why one reviewer said the menu was limited because they offer SIX different kinds of tortillas, more than I have ever seen anywhere. You can also get different types of beans, rice, seasonings and fillings. How many burrito joints have prawns and grilled veggies? As another reviewer pointed out, they even have non-fat cheese. There is a salsa bar with a good variety, from mild to five-alarm. Hardly limited!

My only complaint would be more with customers than the restaurant. Planet Fresh thoughtfully provides an easy way to recycle: Bins that are clearly placed. It seems many customers are sloppy when they dispose of their trash and recyclables and there have been things all over the floor when I have been there. Not very appetizing.

All in all it's a good place.

One of my favorite places to eat. Really good food, fast service, no crowds. Favorite thing to eat is any thing w/Cajun seasoning. The best thing about P-fresh is you can take you food next door to enjoy it w/a ice cold pint of beer or tasty cocktail. On weekend they also serve really good breakfast burritos too till 3pm.

If you're looking for a traditional California Burrito--the type you'd find at Taqueria Vallarta--Planet Fresh isn't your burrito place. Instead, you'll find a unique variety of options at Planet Fresh where you can pick and choose for your taste buds(or dietary needs), including six different types of tortillas, three types of beans and rice, and fillings like fresh veggies and prawns. You'll usually find me ordering the huge black bean quesadilla on whole wheat tortilla with non-fat cream cheese (told yah they had everything!) which comes with a handful of their tasty made-fresh-daily tortilla chips. My standby is the chicken tubular taco. Feeling a little more ambitious? Try the Thai-Style burrito. Hubby swears by it.

Food really is fresh at Planet Fresh. The menu is limited, but you get to order your own combination of various tortilla flavors, rice, beans, and toppings. They actually make their own guacamole instead of opening a can, so I always get some on my burrito or taco. I like the vegie toppings the best, but the snapper and chicken options are pretty good.

Next, load up at the salsa bar. I'm a wimp so I appreciate the "Gringo" salsa, but there are hotter flavors as well. They have those spicy carrot slices too, and plenty of fresh cilantro and lime.

Don't forget to recycle on your way out! The establishment provides bins for glass and paper.

Summary: not the place for a culinary adventure, but just the spot for a reliably delicious, healthy and filling meal.
