Band members are: Billy Pitrone on guitar/vocals, Sarah Eblen on bass/vocals, Pete Hicks on fiddle/mandolin/vocals, and Rob Horgan on banjo.

The new album Nightbird is pretty good. The musicians are great, but to my ears, the production doesn't sound quite as good as their last album. Still, they bring their talents and their well-chosen repertoire as always. Worth a listen!

These folks are well worth checking out and you can see them for free the first Monday of every month at Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing. Phil's hosts various local bluegrass bands from the area every Monday and Wednesday. It's a fun place to stuff yourself while listening to good music-- I do it all the time.

Maybe I'm biased because I know a couple of these folks, but really, they do make wonderful music! Once you've heard Billy's delightfully expressive growl and Sarah's sweet, plaintive voice in harmony, you'll be hooked. Not to slight Pete and Rob, either. Their traditional tunes are skilfully done, and they can write a great topical ballad, too, such as Dirty Water. Whether they're bringing a tear to your eye or putting a grin on your face, Bean Creek satisfies.
