How to Set Up Windows 98 to Dial Up to Cruzio: Quick Start Instructions

These setup instructions assume that you have basic knowledge of how to use a computer and mouse. If you have any difficulties with these quick start instructions, please refer to the detailed setup instructions, or contact Cruzio technical support.

1) Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.

2) Double-click the "Dial-Up Networking" icon.

3) Double-click the "Make New Connection" icon. A new window will open, titled "Make New Connection."

3.1) In the box under "Type a name for the computer you are dialing:" enter "Cruzio."

3.2) Your modem should appear in the "Select a device" box. If not, select your modem. Click "Next."

3.3) Leave the "Area Code" box blank. In the "Telephone number" box, enter the phone number from your Cruzio Login Info sheet. You may use a hyphen in the phone number, but it is not necessary. Click "Next".

3.4) Click the "Finish" button to create your new connection icon.

4) Right-click on the "Cruzio" icon.

4.1) From the pop-up menu, select "Create Shortcut."

4.2) A window will appear, asking "Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?" Click "Yes" and a "Shortcut to Cruzio" icon will appear on your desktop.

5) Double-click on the "Shortcut to Cruzio" icon. This brings up the "Connect To" window.

5.1) In the "User name" box, enter your "Dialup Login" from your Cruzio Login Info sheet. (Make sure to use the "Dialup Login", NOT the "Email Login.")

5.2) In the "Password" box, enter your "Dialup Password" from your Cruzio Login Info sheet. Make sure you capitalize correctly.

5.3) Put a check in the "Save password" checkbox.

5.4) Click on the "Connect" button.
