These instructions assume you have already installed Internet Explorer 5 and Outlook Express. Both of these programs come pre-installed in Windows. How to Setup Outlook Express Using the Internet Connection Wizard You can either setup Outlook Express by using the Internet Connection Wizard (step 1) or by manually changing settings (step 2). If you do not wish to use the Internet Connection Wizard, or if you wish to make changes to existing settings, skip step 1 and go to step 2. Step 1 -- Set Up Outlook Express Mail Using the Setup Wizard 1.1) Double-click on the "Outlook Express" icon on your desktop, or find the program on your start menu (often at Start Menu; Programs; Internet Explorer; Outlook Express) and click on it there to open it. The "Outlook Express" window should appear. If this is the first time you've opened Outlook Express, an "Internet Connection Wizard" box will appear. If a box does not appear, go directly to step 2. 1.2) In the Internet Connection Wizard box, select the radio button next to "Create a new Internet mail account" and then click "Next>". 1.3) In the "Display Name" box, enter your real name. Click "Next>". 1.4) Select the "I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use" radio button. In the "E-mail Address" box, enter your "Email Address" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (For example, "mary@cruzio.com" or "joe@joesdomain.com".) Click "Next>". 1.5) In the "My incoming mail server is a" box, make sure that "POP3" is selected from the drop-down box. In the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server" box, enter your "Incoming (POP) Mail Server" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. In the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" box, enter the "Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (Note: If you use an Internet Service Provider other than Cruzio for your Internet access, you need to use their SMTP setting instead.) Click "Next>" 1.6) In the "Account name" box, enter your "Email Login" (not your "POP Account", not your "Dialup Login") from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (For example, if your email address is "mary@cruzio.com", your "POP account name" is "mary".) In the "Password" box, enter your "Email Password" (not your Network Password) from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (Note that Cruzio passwords are case sensitive and contain no spaces or dots; enter your password, using capitals and small letters, exactly as it appears on your Cruzio Login Information sheet.) If you don't want to type in your password each time you check your mail, put a check in the "Remember password" checkbox. Click "Next>" 1.7) Click "Finish" to save your settings. Step 2 -- Set Up Outlook Express Mail Without Using the Setup Wizard You can either setup Outlook Express by using the Internet Connection Wizard (step 1) or by manually changing settings (step 2). If you have already configured Outlook Express for your Cruzio account using the Wizard, skip step 2 and go to step 3. 2.1) From the "Tools" menu, choose "Accounts". An "Internet Accounts" box should appear. Select the "Mail" tab across the top of that window by clicking on it. 2.2) There should be an account listed in this window. If there is no account listed, click on the "Add" button, and then select "Mail" from the list that appears. This will start the "Internet Connection Wizard". Re-do Step 1 above, starting on Step 1.4). If there is an account listed, double-click on it to open the "Properties" window. 2.3) Select the "General" tab. Under the "User Information" section: In the "Name" box, enter your real name. In the "E-mail Address" box, enter your "Email Address" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (For example, "mary@cruzio.com" or "joe@joesdomain.com".) In the "Reply address" box, enter your "Email Address" again. Make sure there is a check in the box next to "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing". 2.4) Select the "Servers" tab. Under the "Server information" section: In the "Incoming mail (POP3)" box, enter your "Incoming (POP) Mail Server" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. In the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" box, enter the "Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (Note: If you use an Internet Service Provider other than Cruzio for your Internet access, you need to use their SMTP setting instead.) In the "Account Name" box, enter your "Email Login" (not your "POP Account", not your "Dialup Login") from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (For example, if your email address is "mary@cruzio.com", your "Account Name" is "mary".) In the "Password" box, enter your "Email Password" (not your Dialup Password) from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (Note that Cruzio passwords are case sensitive and contain no spaces or dots; enter your password, using capitals and small letters, exactly as it appears on your Cruzio Login Information sheet.) 2.5) Select the "Connection" tab. Put a check in the "Always connect to this account" checkbox. From the drop-down menu, choose "Cruzio". 2.6) Click "OK" to save your settings and exit "Properties". 2.7) Click "Close" to return to Outlook Express. Step 3 -- Use Outlook Express to Send and Receive E-mail 3.1) If you are not already logged into Cruzio, log in. 3.2) Launch Outlook Express. (To do this, either click on the Outlook Express icon on your desktop, or find it on your "Start" menu -- often at Programs; Internet Explorer; Outlook Express). 3.3) To get your new email messages, click the "Send/Recv" button across the top of the window. If you are currently connected to Cruzio, this will check to see if you have any new messages on the mail server, and if so, will download the messages to your computer. (If you are not currently connected to Cruzio, you will first be prompted to log in.) 3.4) In the upper right section of the "Outlook Express" window, you will see a list of your incoming messages. To read the contents of a message, click on it and the text of the message will appear in the lower right section of the window. 3.5) To send a message, click the "New Mail" button in the upper-left section of the window. 3.6) In the "To" box, enter the recipient's email address. (As a test example, enter your own email address to send yourself a message). In the "Subject" box, enter a title for this message. (Call it "Test email to myself".) In the lower section of the window, enter the text of the message. 3.7) When you are finished typing your message, click the "Send" button (with the envelope icon) in the upper left corner of the message window. This should send your message and return you to the main Outlook Express window. 3.8) Click the "Send/Recv" button to check for any new incoming messages. (If you sent the message to yourself, you should then see this message appear in your incoming messages. If it does not appear, wait a few minutes and try again.) Step 4 -- Set the Internet Explorer Start Page 4.1) Click on the "Start" button, choose "Settings", then choose "Control Panel". Double click on the "Internet Options" icon to open the Internet Properties dialog box. 4.2) Click on the "General" tab. Under the "Home Page" section, in the "Address" box, type "http://www.cruzio.com/". Click "OK" to save changes and exit the Internet Properties box. Close the control panel.
