These instructions assume you have downloaded Netscape Navigator 3 from the Internet. If you have already installed Netscape Navigator, skip step 1 and start at step 2. Step 1 -- Install Netscape Navigator 1.1) Restart your Macintosh, disabling any virus protection (do this by holding down the shift key while rebooting until you see "Welcome to Macintosh, Extensions off" or "Welcome to Mac OS, Extensions Disabled"). 1.2) Launch the Netscape installer (do this by double-clicking on the file you have downloaded from the Internet). Note: After you download Netscape, you may have three new files on your hard disk: a file whose name ends in ".hqx", a file whose name ends in ".sit", and a file with no extension on the end of its name. The file with no extension is the installer. 1.3) A Netscape window appears. Click "Continue..." An installation options window appears. Click "Install". 1.4) After installation, a dialog box appears telling you that installation was successful. Restart your Mac. Step 2 -- Set Up Netscape Navigator 2.1) The first time you start your Mac after installing netscape navigator, a dialog box may appear asking: "Would you like to connect to Netscape's Setup site to continue your Netscape Navigator setup?" If you wish to go online and register your software with Netscape, click "Continue setup now". After you register with Netscape, proceed to step 2.4. Otherwise, click on "Continue setup later" or "Don't ask again". 2.2) Log in to Cruzio. 2.3) You now have a new folder called "Netscape Navigator Folder" on your hard disk. Double-click on this folder to open it, and double-click on the Netscape Navigator icon to launch Netscape. If you see a dialog box asking if you accept Netscape's terms and conditions, you must click "Accept" to use the application. 2.4) Under the "Options" menu, choose "General Preferences..." 2.5) The first set of preferences you see will be Appearance." Change the "Home Page Location" to "http://www.cruzio.com" (this tells Netscape to connect to Cruzio's home page each time you launch Netscape). Click "OK." 2.6) Under the "Options" menu, choose "Mail and News Preferences..." 2.7 ) Select the "Servers" tab. 2.8) In the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server" box, enter the "Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (Note: If you use an Internet Service Provider other than Cruzio for your Internet access, you need to use their SMTP setting instead.) 2.9) In the "Incoming Mail (POP) Server" box, enter your "Incoming (POP) Mail Server" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. 2.10) In the "POP user ID" box, enter your "Email Login" (not your "Dialup Login") from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (For example, if your email address is "mary@cruzio.com", your email login is "mary".) 2.11) Where it says "Messages are copied from the server to a local hard disk, then:" select the "Removed from the server" radio button. 2.12) In the "News (NNTP) Server" box, enter "cnews.newsguy.com". 2.13) Select the "Identity" tab. 2.14) If you wish to have your name appear on email sent from within Netscape, in the "Your Name" box enter your real name. 2.15) In the "Your Email" box, enter your "Email Address" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (For example, "mary@cruzio.com" or "joe@joesdomain.com".) 2.16) In the " Reply-to-address" box, enter your email address again. 2.17) Select the "Organization" tab. 2.18) Put a check in the "Remember mail password" checkbox. 2.19) Click on "OK" to close the Preferences window.
