How to Set Up Eudora 1.5.1 to Use Email (and set up extra mailboxes)

1) Connect to the Internet.

2) Launch Eudora.

3) Under the "Special" menu, choose "Settings..."

4) Enter the "POP Account" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet.

5) Enter your real name in the "Real Name" box.

6) Make sure the "MacTCP" button is selected.

7) Click on the "Personal Information" icon in the window on the left. Enter the "Return Address" (your "Email Address" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet).

8) Click on the "Checking Mail" icon in the window on the left. Uncheck the "Leave mail on server" box. Put a check in the "Save password" box. (This way you only have to type in your password the first time you go to check your email and Eudora will remember it thereafter.)

9) Click on the "Hosts" icon in the window on the left. Enter "mx.cruzio.com" in the "SMTP" box. (Note: If you use an Internet Service Provider other than Cruzio for your Internet access, you need to use their SMTP setting instead.)

10) Click "OK" to save and exit the configuration window. Your Eudora setup is finished.

11) To read your initial mail from Cruzio, choose "Check Mail" from the "File" menu. When prompted for a password, enter the "Email Passsword" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet.

HOW TO SET UP EXTRA MAILBOXES IN EUDORA

Step 1 -- Create an Alias for the Extra Mailbox in Eudora 1.5.1

1.1) Go to the "Eudora Folder" that is inside your System Folder on your hard disk. Select this Eudora Folder folder by clicking on it once (not twice) so that it is highlighted. Go to the file menu and choose "Duplicate."

1.2) You will now have a folder named "Eudora Folder Copy." Rename this folder something more appropriate, such as "Eudora Mailbox #2". (To do this, click once on the words "Eudora Folder Copy", wait a second for the words to be highlighted, and then type the new name.)

1.3) Double click on this Eudora Mailbox #2 folder so that the folder opens in a separate window on your desktop. In this folder you will find the following four files:

In

In.toc

Out

Out.toc

These are the "In" and "Out" mailboxes from the Eudora setup that you just copied. Delete these files by dragging them to the trash. (They will be regenerated the next time you launch Eudora.)

1.4) Still in the Eudora Mailbox #2 folder, select the file "Eudora Settings" by clicking on it once. When this is highlighted, go to the File menu and choose "Make Alias."

1.5) You will now have a file named "Alias of Eudora Settings." Rename this file "Email for Mailbox #2" or something similar.

1.6) Drag this alias file to a place where you'll be able to find it easily, such as your Internet Starter Kit for Mac folder. This file is what you will double-click on to access your second mailbox. The first time you double-click on this file, you will have to configure Eudora for the second mailbox, as in step 2.

Step 2 -- Set Up the Extra Mailbox

2.1) If you are not already logged in to Cruzio, log in using ConfigPPP.

2.2) Double-click on the alias file ("Email for Mailbox #2") that you created in step 1.4 above. This will launch Eudora.

2.3) Under the "Special" menu, choose "Settings..."

2.4) Enter your "POP Account" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet. (For example, if your email address is "mary@cruzio.com", your POP Account is "mary@mail.cruzio.com".)

2.5) Enter your real name in the "Real Name" box.

2.6) Make sure the "MacTCP" button is selected.

2.7) Click on the "Personal Information" icon in the window on the left. Enter the "Return Address" (your "Email Address" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet).

2.8) Click on the "Checking Mail" icon in the window on the left. Uncheck the "Leave mail on server" box. Put a check in the "Save password" box. (This way you only have to type in your password the first time you go to check your email and Eudora will remember it thereafter.)

2.9) Click on the "Hosts" icon in the window on the left. Enter "mx.cruzio.com" in the "SMTP" box. (Note: If you use an Internet Service Provider other than Cruzio for your Internet access, you need to use their SMTP setting instead.)

2.10) Click "OK" to save and exit the configuration window. Your Eudora setup is finished.

2.11) To read your initial mail from Cruzio, choose "Check Mail" from the "File" menu. When prompted for a password, enter the "Email Passsword" from your Cruzio Login Information sheet.
