The Santa Cruz Guide is the most complete local resource for information on everything from where to eat dinner to the hours of the local museums. If you’re new to the area, be sure to check out the Member ratings and reviews to find the locals’ favorite things to do and places to visit. For Santa Cruzans, the Guide is the place to shop local online, without ever leaving the house, using the Guide’s online shopping mall, and a great resource to find a new mechanic or computer consultant you can trust through our rated and reviewed professionals. It’s all in the Guide!

Finding Information in the Guide

When you visit the Santa Cruz Guide main page, you'll see an extensive list of categories identifying the different types of information available in the Guide. Because the Guide is a vast directory, you might want to search for the specific information you’re looking for. You can:

  • Browse by category.

If you're interested in a certain type of information, for example, local beaches, click on the Beaches & Parks link and a complete list of beaches—with the most popular beaches first—will appear below.

  • Search all listings.

Got a hankering for Chinese food but don’t know where to look? In the box that says “Search Cruzio” you can type a genre of food, a business name, the name of an artist, or any word to look for all of the Guide listings that match your criteria.

Once you find a listing you're interested in, click on the title or the photo to display the complete listing information, including hours, specialties, Member reviews, and a map to the location.

Moving Around the Guide

Following the links into a specific listing is fairly straightforward, but how do you get back to the top of the Guide? Just click on the underlined words “Santa Cruz Guide” under the tan menu bar, or in the green navigation bar at the top of every page.

The following help is for Cruzio members. Many activities on the Cruzio website require membership. If you're not a member yet, please join us!

Writing a Review

Share your opinion! Recommend your favorite dishes at a restaurant, or tell everyone what makes your favorite beach so perfect. If you see a review that you disagree with, write your own review, and make your case.

You must be logged into the Cruzio website to write a review. If you’re logged in, browse the Guide to a listing you would like to review, then click “Add review” and a review box will appear below the Guide listing. Give your review a title, rate it, type your comments in the box and click “Submit.” Your review will be live immediately!

Remember to keep your language family-friendly, and to write any negative comments in the spirit of constructive criticism.

If you have your own listing in the Guide, please don't review it yourself. Instead, encourage your fans to write a review.

Most Guide categories allow reviews, but please note that there may be categories that are closed to reviews, such as Civic & Municipal.

Reporting a Review

If you see a review that is in the wrong place, is abusive, or otherwise violates Cruzio terms & conditions, please report it.

To report a review to Cruzio, click "Report this review." In the message box that appears, explain why you are reporting the review. If you would like a reply, include your email address; otherwise, the report is anonymous. Click Submit.

Adding a Guide Listing

Do you have a business, a band, a blog, or an organization you want to promote? Add it to the Guide!

Log in to Cruzio.com and click on Santa Cruz Guide in the green navigation bar. Click the "Add new listing" link just below the Guide categories, and select the appropriate category for your new Guide listing from the drop-down list. Fill out the fields (you don't have to fill out everything, but the ones marked with a red asterisk are required).

To include a link to your own web site in the "Web site" field, make sure you include the prefix http:// at the beginning of your site address. For example, the web site address for Cruzio is http://www.cruzio.com.

You can even add a photo or logo by clicking the Browse button and select an image stored on your computer. Please note that images have a maximum size of 300kb each. (Images are converted to .jpg format, so you may want to avoid using a transparent .gif image, since it will no longer be transparent after uploading.) When you're ready, click Submit.

You can only add a listing to one category; if your item fits in more than one category, you'll want to add multiple listings to the Guide, one in each category.

Please, only add a listing for a business, restaurant, organization, etc. that you represent. If you see an existing listing for your business that needs to be updated or corrected, please contact the Cruzio Listing Maven.

Changing Your Guide Listing

Log in to Cruzio.com. Go to your profile by selecting the “My Profile” link in the upper right hand corner. Select the tab that says “Guide” and click on the title that matches the listing you’re looking for. This will open your listing and a box with three icons will appear next to the listing title.

If you wish to edit your listing, click on the pencil icon, make your changes and then click the “Save” button. If you wish to unpublish but not delete your listing, click on the green checkmark. It will turn into a red X when the listing is unpublished. If you wish to delete your listing completely, click on the trash can icon. Be aware that the listing will not disappear in front of you, but will be removed from the site.

If someone else, like Cruzio, wrote a listing about your business, organization, etc., contact the Cruzio Listing Maven to request changes.
