Race fans - Today I bring the news that my friend and cycling writer (you've surely seen her byline in the Sentinel) Karen Kefauver has created a handy and fun Facebook group covering the Tour of California. Already there are over 200 members worldwide. It's a super way to keep up to date on all that's going on (screenshot below).

Also, for you grimpers out there (what the French call racers who excel at climbing), here are projected times for the Bonny Doon climb from local awesome pro, Ben Jacques-Maynes who did a trial run out there on Wednesday.

Ben says it took him 13 minutes to get to the winery (yikes - that's flying, folks - 25 minutes is more like it for mere mortals), and he believes the Tour of CA gravity defiers will make the top of the climb, all the way to Empire grade (7.1 miles from the bottom), in around 24 minutes! That's crazy fast - beyond the avg pace many normal humans manage on the flats!
