 CTV will be hosting its first Fundraiser/Auction event on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 6pm to 9pm in our downtown Santa Cruz studio at 816 Pacific Avenue.  Dinner and cocktails will be served at 6pm with the Program and Live Auction to follow at 7pm.

this weekend seemed pretty busy for local businesses. village yoga's 10 am saturday class was crowded with lots of out-of-towners anxious for 90 minutes of bending, stretching and compressing.

Cafe Campesino kiosk staying in business

I'm very happy to report that the Cafe Campesino kiosk on Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz has been allowed to stay! There had been some doubt, but the cafe's customers signed a petition in droves. I suspect that helped the city decide in favor of Dina Torres, the owner.

One day, after buying a sunflower at the downtown farmers' market, I parked my bike to hang out and listen to the Zimbabwean marimba band. (Add "bouncing dorkily to traditional African rhythms" to the list of stuff white people like!)

 

Normally I'd pass them by, finding the repetitive tunes extremely boring. Yesterday was different.
