What Was Once Food for the Gods Can Now Be Your Healthy Habit

O Chocolate Published in PoemsLocal BusinessHealthGourmet FoodEconomics by O Chocolate | Comment (0)

O chocolate is a lovely thing

So dark and rich, seems sinful.

Yet now Xocai has found a way

to keep the healthy in full.

For morning taste or teatime breaks

or evening delight,

these bites can be a way to find

a healthy happy life.

Eating chocolate and lose weight—

you think, “Can this be true?”

It’s happening for me and many;

let it

Blue Again, Like Morning

RamblingRose Published in PoetryPoems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

Here I came to the very edge
where nothing at all needs saying,
everything is absorbed through weather and the sea,
and the moon swam back,
its rays all silvered,
and time and again the darkness would be broken
by the crash of a wave,
and every day on the balcony of the sea,
wings open, fire is born,
and everything is blue again, like morning.

Earth Day

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (2)

It was Celebrate Earth Day
And I was wandering the booths
Demonstrating solar ovens
Here in sunny Santa Cruz

Eating fresh baked chocolate chip cookies
Heated up by just the sun rays
Sipping Mountain Brewery organic beer
Learning about more sustainable ways

Whole Foods and New Leaf
Hand out reusable grocery bags
Local teachers, artists and crafts

Leaving the Crossroads

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

As you ponder your path
I wonder if I am a distraction
Where has there been union
Where is there faction
Each step we take,
each tiny action
What was a response,
What has been the reaction

I can chart the stars
or cast the cards
to give you more information
But the truth is
it’s up to you
To decide your destination
If you want to know
Where you need to go
Try to google map

No regrets

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

I have wished you dead and myself dead.
How could it be otherwise.
I have broken into you like a burglar.
And you've set your dogs on me.
And a pile of broken sticks.
A child could kick.
I have climbed you like a monument, gasping,
For the exercise and the view,
And leaned over the railing at the top...
Strong and warm, the summer wind.

Inauguration!

I wasn't able to sleep, and judging from the noises coming from the washer, drier and Jake's room in the wee morning hours, neither was Jake.

We both had a 4:30 AM wake-up to get the lad to SFO for his 8:05AM direct flight to Dulles airport in D.C. for his Congressional Youth Leadership Council trip to the inaguration of President number 44, Mr. Barak

Pomegranate Seeds

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

And I thought of Persephone, Queen of the Underworld,
six months beneath the snows, six in the sun,
her mother Demeter spreading wild fecundity in summer heat.

Persephone, who ate pomegranate seeds,
the blood on her hands
condemning her to winter darkness.

I know better now.
I know better, because beneath the snow
our compost is steaming.

There’s churning life

Today

RamblingRose Published in Santa CruzPoems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

Today
I am going to take care of myself
I am going to drink good, strong coffee
I am going to feed myself

It is raining, so
The garden is watered

I am at Herland
I will take care of this beautiful space
And enjoy these last few days

I make my list
For this afternoon:

Go to the batting cages
To practice having fun

And all the way to the bank
I will be laughing

Then

Messages from Seaglass

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

Once I met a wind swept man
Who constructed his days
& spent his nights in craft,
And the time betweens
Sifting the beaches
For bits of precious sea glass.

Milky white, palest aqua,
Sea green, and cobalt blues,
Burnished browns, occasional reds
And the rarest of violet hues.

These shards of the past
Once raw & jagged
Now polished & refined

Sustainable Energy

I was cold
Someone handed me a sparkler
I was bedazzled
Until it fizzled

I long for
your hearth.

Touch Me

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)
touch me
touch me with respect
as you have respect for my mind, as if
my body had become
an extension of it
and if you cannot
then touch me not

touch me
touch all of me
except perhaps this place
that is untouchable
for all souls have one such
untouchable space
and so will it be
with this my body

touch me
and fear not my scars
for they are evidence of healing
and learning,

Good Boundaries

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

I have good boundaries
Durga guards my Achilles heal
I ride the tiger of success
I have battled my demons
And I fiercely protect myself

*** I place myself beyond the reach
of all who would destroy me
all who tries to wound me***

I am the Unapproachable
Unreproachable
Nothing can get at me
That I do not willingly let in

I dance my dance of oneness
Only with what and

The angel of
Purification came to me

I am no longer
the slave to intensity

Instead I am

The face
Of satisfied desire

I found this poem To Realize on my friend Emma's blog, JubileeFarms, and had to repost it here:

To realize
The value of a sister
Ask someone
Who doesn't have one.

To realize
The value of ten years:
Ask a newly
Divorced couple.

To realize
The value of four years:
Ask a graduate.

To realize
The value of one year:
Ask a student who
Has failed a final exam.

The Invitation

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (1)
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.

I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t

Reading Your Chart

RamblingRose Published in PoemsAstrology by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

It was midnight
By the time we reached the 12th house
And that’s when
The truth spilled out

There in
The witching hour
That’s when I watched you
Regain your power

Instructions

Give up the world; give up self; finally, give up God.
Find god in rhododendrons and rocks,
passers-by, your cat.
Pare your beliefs, your absolutes.
Make it simple; make it clean.
No carry-on luggage allowed.
Examine all you have
with a loving and critical eye, then
throw away some more.
Repeat. Repeat.
Keep this and only this:
what your heart beats loudly
