Ten Principles for the Zen of Attraction

RamblingRose Published in ZenReflectionsObservations by RamblingRose | Comment (1)

1. Promise Nothing
Just do what you most enjoy doing.
Hidden benefit: You will always over-deliver.

2. Offer Nothing
Just share what you have with those who express an interest in it.
Hidden benefit: Takes the pressure off of wanting other people to see you as valuable or important.

3. Expect Nothing
Just enjoy what you already have. It’s

The fire this time

Peggy Published in WeatherSanta CruzObservationsMassive thingsfire by Peggy | Comment (0)

If I were a smoke detector, I'd be going off several times a day. Downtown Santa Cruz is many miles from the Lockheed fire, but when the wind blows from the north the air is acrid and stinging, the sky ash grey.

It's nothing like being in the thick of it, but when the air is ashy I can't help but think of mountains ablaze and horses being rescued and

i don't usually get bags from the market, but sometimes i do, so i can keep my food  as separate as possible from my sweaty clothes, while still shoving everything in my bike bag. the paper bag seems like a nice protector from my germs, in my mind anyway. the other day i got home from trader joe's and found this little typographical error gem, thought i'd

Really, the only reason to go to denny's is because they employ locals. If you think about it, the food is

V: The Palinophant

Lynn Araujo from Us Games Systems, Inc recently contacted me to point out that someone has noticed an uncanny resemblance between Sarah Palin and a card from their Vanessa Tarot deck. She writes,

The coincidences are overwhelming- the hair, the glasses, the red suit, the religious fashion accessories all mirror Sarah's look. And of

Typical Election Ad

Wordsmith Published in Observations by Wordsmith | Comment (2)

The following is a composite text of any number of election commercials as best as I can remember them.

"Washington D.C.; the most loathesome and wretched place on God's green earth, a cesspool of greed, nepotism and corruption, which is why I'm running for Congress/Senate/President.

"We all know that the federal government is bloated, incompetent,
