Her tongue could be red chili

RamblingRose Published in Quotes by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

How would it be to paint a “touch, smell and taste” picture? Skin smooth as cocoa seeds, cat eyes of pungent curry. Maybe her tongue could be red chili and her cheeks burn in flashes of fresh mace...

Welcome Summer Visitors: Roaring Camp

Chris Published in local color by Chris | Comment (0)

If you are an old timey California enthusiast, or love train rides which are not as ... special ... as the Cave Train at the Boardwalk, then load up the family and take the scenic drive through the redwoods to Roaring Camp in Felton.

You think you like trains? These people are nuts about them.

Stanford Hospital Musician Barbra Telynor

Stanford Report, October 2, 2002

Harpist Barbra Telynor makes her own grand rounds, spreading music through Stanford Hospital

By LINLEY ERIN HALL

Barbra Telynor's long blue skirt brushes the floor as her fingers move softly over the red, black and white strings of her wooden harp. She hums as she strums, the soft,

Zing Went the Strings of My Harp!

Telynor Published in Untagged  by Telynor | Comment (0)

About the work I do as Hospital and Hospice Musician:

Where Aretha Franklin is the ‘Queen of Soul', I'm the ‘Queen of Mellow'!

For more than 9 years, I've been honored to bring music into hospital and hospice settings. And while many comments I receive range from ‘nice of the hospital to do this' to ‘it's so soothing', neither of those responses capture the

Summer of Power

RamblingRose Published in Poems by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

The summer I discovered power
the ink flowed dark and freely from my pen
like a river of moon’s blood.
I discovered what was between my legs,
wore no undergarments
and made peace with chin hair.

Strength, Courage & Confidence

RamblingRose Published in Quotes by RamblingRose | Comment (0)

“I gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which I must stop and look fear in the face. I say to myself, I’ve lived through this and can take the next thing that comes along. We must do the things we think we cannot do.”

Save The Oil!

Wordsmith Published in Energy Issues by Wordsmith | Comment (2)

There's a harebrained idea being trumpeted by certain reactionary types that the only way to lower gasoline prices is to start drilling for oil in the Alaska wilderness and off our coasts.  There are so many reasons why this foolhardy idea is wrong that I couldn't possibly list them all here, so I'll just state a few, but there is one that stands

Went to a family reunion in Ohio this weekend

mike Published in Untagged  by mike | Comment (4)

The highlight definitely had to be Cedar Point. If you haven't heard of it, it's an amusement park about an hour away from Cleveland in Sandusky. They have some of the most insane roller coasters I've ever been on. Two of the highlights have to be Millenium Force and Dragster. I looked on youtube and found a video from each one, here they are:

Short Story

Wordsmith Published in Fiction by Wordsmith | Comment (0)

This fictional short story based on an incident that happened to someone I know back in the mid 90's.  I first wrote this story in 2000, then rewrote it 2007.  I'm posting it here because I don't believe it will ever be published because of its content in addition to the difficulty of selling a short story.  WARNING!  I did edit the profanity but there

Biking to Beat the Gas Prices?

PuffinGal Published in wonders of natureSummerstuff we like by PuffinGal | Comment (1)

If you're looking to save money on gas and are fortunate enough to live in Santa Cruz, biking is an excellent alternative available to you.

You don't need a fancy bike or silly spandex, just some basic wheels and comfy clothes will do.

If you're a little "rusty" (you or the bike) take it slow and give it spin! What could it hurt to try?

Am I selling

Welcome Summer Visitors: The Cave Train

Chris Published in local color by Chris | Comment (0)

Welcome summer visitors to Santa Cruz County!

No doubt, you will be visiting many of the fascinating attractions which we have to offer. Did you know that we have some less than fascinating attractions, nay, so stupid, that in an unintentionally ironic sort of way you want to check them out if only to answer the age old question: what the hell were they
