Being a programmer has definite benefits. Perl scripts to download and archive webcam images, and the ultra fabulous gifmerge utility to combine them into animated gifs.

This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers; they lived only 90 years ago.
Remember, it was not until 1920
that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.
The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking for the vote.

As congress agrees to bail out Wall Street with our tax dollars whilst it implodes and against our wishes, it's important to understand an aspect of our American economic system and why it's such a mess.
In the beginning of the U.S., corprations were tightly regulated because their very structure was built to extract wealth out of the New World without

Some pictures from the Memory Walk in Seascape. We ended up over shooting and walking an extra mile up the beach. I've never been down there either in Seascape the village or the beach.
We saw a couple of fishermen casting into the surf.
And we saw a lot of surfers just a few yards off the beach in the really shallow water where these cool little

I just had the trippiest experience. Last night as I was coming home, I noticed a dog in the middle of the street. Big white dog, bit bigger than a lab, with a brown squishy face, and deep brown eyes. A group of teenagers were telling him to go home, but it

Found this on Craigs List and just about spit out my milk:
My regular waxer was not available and I just could not bear the wild, untamed amazon bush jungle that my, well, bush had become for another day.
So I came to you on my lunch hour, Anonymous Vietnamese Waxer Lady who works at the cheapie nail place. We were mere strangers before this afternoon, but

We were a colorful group that morning, the five of us. Chris, with her cat glasses and multiple facial piercings; Elijah (aka Lije), looking like the long red haired six foot elf that he is; my new friends - Katie & Rennick, family members of the Smiling Iguana Cafe; and me, you know me... a tattooed, spiky haired dyke who apparently lives under the

All the taxpayer funded bailing out happening on Wall Street makes me wonder when it's all going to end. I know it sounds anticapitalist, but I feel like hitting rock bottom just so I can know where the bottom is. Many are already at rock bottom, and they're not getting a bailout or any help at all.
