Eduardo Carrillo: Within a Cultural Context
On view August 22-November

Eduardo Carrillo:
Within a Cultural Context describes the artist's place in contemporary art
history. His imagery is inspired by his ancestral Mexican heritage and imbued
with the language of his time. With an emphasis on the figurative work
Carrillo’s deeply personal and quietly contemplative smaller portraits contrast
sharply with his resonantly colored and dramatically themed large scale oils on
canvas and panels. Relationships are studied and mythic stories explored while
complex spatial ideas are worked out across the two dimensional world of the
painting.
