I became acquainted with the temple when living in a hippie co-op in that part of town. While leading the shirtless-gardening, free-range-chicken-raising, pit-toilet-digging, converting-any-conceivable-shack-into-a-bedroom lifestyle on our rented-from-an-absentee-landlord meadow, it was delightfully heartening to see the fruits of another Santa Cruzan doing his own thing.

I always wondered whether it was built for some obscure quasi-religious freemasonry-type organization. Now that I know it was simply Kenneth Kitchen's wild imagination, I'm even fonder of the place.
