I am a jazz guitar major at Cabrillo College who is looking for new guitar students.
I can help you or your child get started on learning the basics of guitar playing in a flexible, individualized manner. I teach anyone ages 5 and up.
I am experienced with many genres of music so whether you want to learn Beatles, Bach, Black Sabbath, Billie Holiday, or Bluegrass: I can help you.
My teaching method focuses around learning songs (because that's the fun part). I try to intermix technique (the tedious part) into the teaching of songs. On the other hand, this won't work for some students so in that case, we will figure something else out. I don't believe that anybody learns in exactly the same fashion so my teaching has to be molded to the student's learning style.
In addition to guitar (playing for 9 years, teaching for 4 years), I also am experienced with piano, music theory, songwriting, and audio technology.
My rates are relatively inexpensive and group lessons can also be arranged. ½ hour lessons are $20-25 and hour lessons are $35-45. I usually come to you and these prices depend on the proximity of your home to where I am located (Downtown Santa Cruz area). I can also give you a lower rate if you are willing to commit to long-term lessons (paying a month at a time).
