Description: Gift of Education is pleased to sponsor a non-profit school specializing in gifted Middle and High School students with learning challenges. With its 1:5 teacher to student ratio, emphasis on individualized education planning, and its goal of meeting every student's individual academic, emotional and social needs, our school is truly a unique place. Students commute from as far as Carmel and Santa Clara, as there is no other school in the surrounding area that provides this kind of much-needed service.
How does our school implement its mission and philosophy into daily life at the school? First and foremost, by creating a community - which fosters compassion, flexibility and integrity- through activities such as a mandatory half hour of community time every morning. Second, every student begins a Personalized Education Plan (PEP), which allows students to create, define, chart and adjust their goals. A PEP counselor and teachers assist students in planning their time in a way that best suits their needs and meets their goals. Our school offers three distinct plans by which students can obtain their high school diploma:
1) the UC/Private College Plan, which exceeds the admission requirements of almost all colleges,
2) the CSU/Junior College Plan, which provides students with an equally strong academic and vocational foundation, and
3) The Works Study Plan, which prepares students for entrepreneurship or employment upon graduation by including a work service component as part of their curriculum. We also offer, among other services, accelerated programs for students who wish to graduate early, life skills lectures every Friday, and homework club every Monday - Thursday from 3.30 to 5 pm.

This school has been wonderful for our older son, now 14. The average class size is under 12, and one of his classes only has 4 other students. Its individualized instruction style and emphasis on individual responsibility has helped him mature as he learns. They also have an after-school homework club that is staffed by the instructors ... they all stay until 5pm! Great staff, good community of parents.
