A good Santa Cruz thrift store that has the ever-important added value of using your money for community service. While the going prices for basic things are rarely 'steals,' the real deals can be found through knowledge of the Salvation Army calendar, which contains all kinds of special sales and promotions. Here are a few to remember:

1) Every day, a different color tag (there are around 6 or 7 different colors) is at 50% off

2) Every Wednesday, the entire stock of clothing is 50% off

3) All jewelry and items in the "Quality Loft" are price-marked on a certain date, written on the tag. 40 days after that date, the item goes on sale for 50% off.

4) On the last Friday of every month, everything in the store is half-price

5) There are assorted other sales events, mostly furniture, that occur every once in a while.

The Santa Cruz Salvation Army is a good Thrift Store, with relatively high quality items and occasionally high prices. Use their myriad sales events to take full advantage of what can be the best values in Santa Cruz!
